I Am Out Of Shape...

I didn't realize how bad I was until I rode to the Spinervals Suffer-O-Rama DVD last night!  At one point I thought I was going to vomit!  That's what I get for going soft and lazy towards the end of the season and then taking a little vacation from the bike for the first part of October.  The vacation did me well in the fact that I feel that I have some focus and drive again!  I'm not sure how long that is going to last, but being optimisitic I hope it will carry through the winter.
As for the trainer "party" last night it was lonely.... no one wanted to suffer with me.  So I started at 6 PM alone with Suffer-O-Rama.  I forgot how much intensity there is with the combination of the Spinervals intervals and the Kurt Kinetic Trainer.  The extra weight on the back ramps up the intensity dramatically.  My legs were on fire after the first 5 minute interval!
By the half way point of the workout I had sweat rolling off of me as if I had been running through a sprinkler and my heart was way up!  That's the "nice" thing about the Spinervals workouts, they warm you up fast and maintain a fairly high intesity through out.  So, if you don't cheat yourself by not pushing you get a really good hard workout.
The next trainer "party" I have planned is at 6:00 PM on Thursday.  After that I am planning on doing them every Tuesday and Thursday night at 6:00 PM.

I voted this morning, did you?
Amber and I got to Ocean Lakes Elementary School this morning at 5:45 and didn't get finished until 8:00!  Crazy!  But at least we got our votes in!

Trainer Parties!!!!

Saturday the clocks rolled back, now it's dark before I even leave work.  What's that mean?  TRAINER PARTIES!!!
I am trying to be positive about this, but the truth is trainers SUCK!  45 minutes of pedaling your arse off and getting no where!  Even worse, listening Coach Troy on the Spinervals DVD tell you to pedal harder while he strolls around with out so much as a bead of sweat on his brow.  Unfortunately to get "rides" in during the week during the winter a trainer is the only option.  Due to the fact that I hate trainers I find it very difficult to force myself to get on the trainer and actually ride.  That's where the trainer parties come in to play.
The group of people give each other a little added incentive to work out and there is also some accountability.  For me, if there are people coming over then I have no choice but to get out there and ride.

Tonight will be the first trainer party hosted at my house.  I have room for about 8-10, maybe a couple more people in my garage and anyone is welcome to join in.  It's a great way to meet some new people and join a "support group" to help us all get through the winter!  Bring some water, a towel, trainer, your bike, and be ready to be tortured by Coach Troy.  The fun will start at 6:00 PM tonight at my house in the Dam Neck area of Virginia Beach.
Call me at 769-9195 or email me at stormyva(AT)gmail.com for directions and so I can figure out how many people to expect.
